David Wells - Sr. Pastor

David was born in Eaton, Ohio. The son of a United Methodist pastor, David was himself ordained as an elder in 1995.  He started his ministry as a student pastor at Gethsemane UMC in Pickerington.  He later served as an associate pastor in Lancaster, Ohio and most recently as the lead pastor of Village Chapel UMC in Ashville, Ohio.

Pastor Wells has a passion for evangelism.  “Reaching Out and Raising Up Disciples” has become his life’s mission.  Prior to his appointment with Brice, David served the Village Chapel UMC in Ashville, Ohio.   During his ministry at Village Church, a praise-contemporary service was initiated in 1998.  As worship attendance grew, a second praise-contemporary service was added.  As both these services grew, it became evident that Village was outgrowing its 100 year old facility, and in 2001, 14 acres of land was purchased for a new church site. In 2004 David helped successfully lead Village through a merger with Hedges Chapel UMC, to form the new Village Chapel UMC. On June 4, 2006 this church broke ground for its new facility, a tool to be used to better serve and reach out to the Ashville Community.

After serving in the US Army, David earned his undergraduate degree from Bowling Green State University.  He earned his Master’s of Divinity from The Methodist Theological Seminary in Ohio.  In addition, David holds a Master’s in Alcohol and Drug Abuse Ministries that led to his certification as a Licensed Social Worker and a Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor.  He is a candidate for the Doctor of Ministry Program at Asbury Theological Seminary.

David and his wife Cathy have three children. Ryan is 27 and currently serving in the US Army, stationed in Fort Lewis, Washington; Garrett is 13, and Courtney is 12.  David’s passions are OSU Athletics, fishing with his children, and generally hanging out wherever his family is.

Laura Mulligan - Children's Minister

Hello everyone,

     My name is Laura Mulligan and I am the Children's Minister at Brice United Methodist Church.  I am so excited to be a part of the wonderful staff here at Brice.  We are committed to our vision of  sharing Christ's love with everyone.  It is my job to make sure that all of the children who walk through the doors of our church feel welcome and loved and that they leave having learned something about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  We do this in an age appropriate way and we try to make it fun and applicable to their lives today. 

     This ministry is especially close to my heart because my children are a part of this program.  I have been married for fourteen years and I am a mother of a eight year old son and a twelve year old daughter.  I understand how hard it is to teach children Godly values in our world today.  It is my mission to give our children at Brice a safe place to come and enjoy themselves while learning about the bible and asking questions so they can become the children that God wants them to be.

Cathy Wells - BCA Administrator

Cathy joined our staff in the fall of 2006, coming to Brice from Village Chapel UMC. She has a BS in Education from Kent State University, and a Master's in Education from Syracuse University. 

At Village, Cathy was the Minister of Discipleship, where she coordinated Sunday School, Children's Church and Small Group Ministries. Here at Brice, Sunday mornings can be spent on the floor in the nursery or in a classroom leading a relay race. The other six days of the week, Cathy works on linking Sunday morning Children's Ministries to her friends at our Brice Church Preschool and our  Brice Christian Academy. She helps coordiate Brice Upward Basketball and Cheerleading, as well as the Brice Church Day Camp Program. 

Cathy has been married 20 years to Pastor David, and is the proud mom of Ryan (25), Garrett (12) Courtney (11) and a menagerie of pets.
